numeral adds up to exactly 666. Strike out the non-numerals, and all that is left
is 666. Now, how long are you going to face these multiplied coincidences and
go on shutting your eyes and saying, “Well, I don’t believe in criticizing folks’
religion”? VICARIVS FILII DEI means “Faithful Vicar of God,” or “Vicarious

1957: Mussolini's 'Return' to Predappio

THE "Mexican Butchery" spectacle that unfolded in Piazzale Loreto had its own horrific logic: the damnation of the body of the Duce, who had been exalted for twenty years as the very image of the fascist regime. However, Italy, turning the page, needed another twelve years to process the ritual sacrifice of the long-loved (and hated) body. In the immediate postwar period, the dictator's remains were still considered a powerful political weapon, even in the name of the Italian Social Movement [the neo-Fascist party immediately founded after the end of WW2 in democratic Italy] whose acronym MSI was reinterpreted as "Mussolini Sempre Immortale" [= Mussolini Always Immortal]. Thus, only on August 30, 1957, exactly fifty years ago, were the poor remains of Benito Mussolini returned to his family and buried in Predappio, in the crypt of San Cassiano in Pennino.
The journey home was a bumpy one. After the execution in Giulino di Mezzegra on April 28, 1945, and the massacre at Piazzale Loreto, Benito Mussolini's body was initially buried in the Musocco cemetery in Milan. Complete anonymity was a clear sign of the new authorities' embarrassment. The body's political weight was perhaps sensed, but no one felt inclined to draw the ultimate conclusions, as the Russians and Americans would later do by incinerating the remains of Nazi leaders executed at Nuremberg.
For the defeated but certainly not subdued FASCISTS, that body was still a powerful symbol. And so, on the night between April 22 and 23, 1946 (Easter Eve: another clear symbol of rebirth), a trio of young RSI veterans, led by Domenico Leccisi, located the tomb and easily stole the Duce's body. The feat was grotesque in some respects (climbing a perimeter wall, the three 'lost' some of the body's limbs), but it had a powerful political impact. The claim of responsibility for the act by the shadowy 'Democratic Fascist Party' sparked concern among the still-uncertain Christian Democrats [supporters and member of the Democrazia Cristiana party - my note] and the eternal suspicions of counterrevolution among the Social-Communists.
By a curious twist of fate, the one who tracked down the 'thieves' of the Duce's body was the same police commissioner Agnesina who, during the twenty-year period, had led the Presidential Guard, Mussolini's bodyguard. And who hadn't lifted a finger when, on July 25, 1943, the king had ordered the dictator's treacherous arrest. Agnesina evidently knew where to look, and within a hundred days he had arrested Leccisi and his camerati, who were also implicated in a counterfeit banknote ring. And Mussolini's body? The Duce's poor remains, folded like a worn flag and placed in a small wooden casket, had been entrusted by Leccisi to a well-known Franciscan friar, Enrico Zucca, with strong fascist sympathies. Through Father Alberto Parini (brother of the former fascist mayor of Milan), the remains were finally hidden in the Certosa di Pavia.
The authorities, however, were unsure how to handle the matter politically. That body still aroused fear. It was then decided to further temper the situation and leave the body in the custody of the friars, under the obligation of silence. But public opinion at the time was still morbidly following all the events involving revelations about the Duce's private life; it certainly couldn't forget his body. The location of Mussolini's "secret tomb" continued to fascinate Italians and be the subject of alleged scoops and (far-fetched by definition) urban legends. Such as the one that suggested the solution to the mystery lay in the tomb of a certain Bruno Misefari (note the evocative initials) in the Verano cemetery. For a time, it became a destination for pilgrimages and small gatherings of nostalgics, until the irritated family members clarified that the deceased had actually existed and, moreover, had been a staunch anti-fascist persecuted by the regime. Finally, the ridiculous and blasphemous came to the fore when a thug reporter drilled a hole in the altar of the church of Montepaolo in Dovadola, where the remains of the Duce were said to be hidden. The unwary Indiana Jones only received a complaint for damages.
The mystery was finally solved in 1957. And the solution to the political mystery was the work of a refined Christian Democrat politician, born in Predappio, Adone Zoli. At the head of a single-party government dependent on the benevolence of the right, Zoli received the covert support of the MSI in exchange, among other things, for Mussolini's return to Predappio. But the entire operation was carried out with great diplomatic tact, also involving the Predappio municipal administration.
The "trip" from Milan to San Cassiano in Pennino—once again overseen by Police Chief Agnesina—was planned for mid-August 15, 1957, to take advantage of the void in summer vacations. But a series of setbacks and delays pushed the fateful date back to the 30th, largely dissipating the veil of secrecy that had been attempted to cover the operation. The coffin containing the Duce's remains traveled incognito under the back seat of a large American car. It arrived in Predappio around noon, greeted by a small group of people guarded by a squad of police officers. "It was almost a family affair, not a political ceremony," recalls Vittorio Dall'Amore, then a young leader of the MSI and very close to the Mussolini family. "There were Donna Rachele, Count Vanni Teodorani, Pino Romualdi, and a few others, less than a dozen." However, some photojournalists managed to immortalize the crucial moments for the glossy weeklies of the time.
A chapel of rest was set up, and the first real pilgrimage took place the next day, with the arrival of approximately three thousand people, including several national leaders of the MSI, including Giorgio Almirante. For the party, it was an event of great sentimental and political significance: for many, the symbol of the MSI represented the flame on Mussolini's coffin. Thus began the tradition of neo-fascist rallies in Predappio, initially opposed by the authorities (by order of Interior Minister Tambroni, the black shirt was banned, and many were forced to go to the cemetery in undershirts to avoid being reported), but later tolerated, if not actually facilitated, in parallel with a conservative shift in national politics. Predappio thus became the "capital" of neo-fascism, even though the MSI leaders, Almirante first and foremost, did not like to show off in front of Mussolini's tomb. The fiery period began between the 1960s and 1970s. The confrontation between the extremists dragged on as far as Predappio, and some extra-parliamentary groups like Lotta Continua prided themselves on physically obstructing fascist pilgrimages. Roadblocks, stone-throwing, beatings, and even a bomb in the crypt marked that era, steeped in ideological fury. Then, little by little, nostalgia turned into nostalgia and tourism.

I personally remember well the 70ies in Italy, with the Fascist party "Movimento Sociale Italiano", whose symbol contained that damend flame on a sort of 'altar', and commonly was referred (quite by the opponent, Communist, leftist anti-fascists) as the COFFIN of Mussolini... The haters of Mussolini recognized what the worshipper of his carcass in Predappio were believing about that symbol.... It coud be not an official statement because it would mean for the symbol to be banned by the anti-fascist Italian law, hence it was a sort of "popular acclamation"....
That flame on a sort of brazier, which many intended to represent the grave or coffin of Mussolini, from where a unquenchable 'spiritual' fire continues to burn (and overheats the hearts). You can appreciate below the evolution of the various political banners of the parties and political formation linked to the restoration of a Fascist party in Italy after the war. The first party of former Fascists was the Movimento Sociale Italiano. After decades it became the Fratelli d'Italia party which today is govening Italy. 80 years after, the flame upon a (not-so) mysterious object still burns in the banner and hearts :

In 2022, during the electoral campaign for the general elections, Giorgia Meloni justified the permanence of the tricolour flame in the symbol of FdI in a video intended for the international press, specifying that "the Italian right has consigned fascism to history for decades now, unambiguously condemning the deprivation of democracy and the infamous anti-Jewish laws". Expressing her opinion on the matter, Liliana Segre [Jewish woman survivor of the Holocaust, and member of the Italian parliament]replied that these words would remain devoid of real substance if not accompanied by facts and that removing the tricolour flame from the logo of Fratelli d'Italia would be a start.[8] - [URL : same Wikipedia page linked above]
Don't be fooled. Italian Jewish tycoons were among the first to support financially the founding of the Fascist party of Mussolini in the early 20ies. Until the Lateran treaty, Benito Mussolini was friendly to ZIONISM.....

In 2012, she co-founded FdI, a legal successor to AN, and became its president in 2014. She unsuccessfully ran in the 2014 European Parliament election and the 2016 Rome municipal election. After the 2018 general election, she led FdI in opposition during the entire 18th legislature. FdI grew its popularity in opinion polls, particularly during the management of the COVID-19 pandemic by the Draghi Cabinet, a national unity government to which FdI was the only opposition party. Following the fall of the Draghi government, FdI won the 2022 general election.

Franco Bechis writes for "Italia Oggi": Carlo Masi's book (Viva l'Italia) reports a ridiculous and embarrassing statement by Benito Mussolini to the American news agency Associated Press: "I am against beards. Fascism is against beards. Beards are a sign of decadence; beards came into fashion with the incipient decline of imperial glory. Fascism was the youth of freshly shaved faces. I have to use a blade every time I shave because there are still no blades capable of withstanding more than one shave of my beard. The best, for now, is Gillette." It was 1926. Mussolini was a (voluntary and ridiculous) endorser of a US product. In defiance, it must be said, of future autarchy. Considering that every now and then a local newspaper reports the news that "So and so, the Duce's barber, has died", it is clear that Mussolini also changed his official razor every day.
